This is a great activity that lays out the strategies that your students can utilize for fact fluency. It's a way to help students become aware of their existing schema. This serves as a great conversation that allows students to become metacognitively aware of strategies they have and what they still need to work on.
For example, +9's might seem tricky, but it's really simple. 9+4=10+3, you simply give one from the four to the 9 and it becomes easier to solve. I allow my students to use their hands (9 in the head, 4 on your fingers; take one away from the four=3; 3+10=13). It's awesome seeing the lightbulbs go off!
