To promote lab safety, students need to know what is expected in the lab. ESL students may have a difficult time understanding some of the terminology but are still expected to behave according to these rules. These cards include a Spanish version, an English version, but also images, simple vocabulary and partial translation to help ESL students understand these rules. Teaching ESL students can be challenging, especially when different levels of proficiency are in the same class. It has even more challenges when you are teaching science, a language of its own! This lesson will help you help them!

When introducing the rules use the set of cards with translations first, once students can match all cards successfully, then use the set of cards without translations. Use the English version with other students.
 
Print the cards on cardstock, cut and place in bags for student use.
